Before we go on describing the different points and tips of the new X5 let us go back to the past when BMW first introduced their X5. The X5 was branded as a SAV vehicle rather than an SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) way back then by BMW. So i am guessing that there are many of readers out who is wondering what the SAV name stands for. Well the SAV name stands for Sport Activity Vehicle, which BMW came up with themselves in order to describe their X5, in other words to emphasize the good car-like on-road ability of this vehicle despite its sheer size. The handling of the new X5 is quite similar to the company's famed sports sedans which makes it a top choice for car shoppers to opt for such a vehicle.

In June 2015 at BMW's Headquarters in Munich the sixth generation of the famous 7 series, the company's flagship vehicle was officially revealed. Construction of the new car was heavily directed towards reducing the overall weight of the car and as a result the body construction uses a combination of carbon-fiber reinforced polymer, aluminium and high-tensile steel.
Only recently in February 2016 BMW announced a plug-in hybrid version that is predicted to be launched in July 2016. This version will be referred to as the iPerformance.
Have you ever heard of a key fob with a touch screen! Well BMW has introduced a new state of the art remote control with an LCD display that the current fuel status of your car, the estimated travel range and even your service requirements. A much longer and taller X1 was officially launched by BMW at the International Frankfurt Motor Show in 2015. Much length is mainly found in the boot therefore increasing the overall cargo capacity of the car.
One tip that you should note when purchasing this vehicle if off-road capabilities is that all sDrive models are front-wheel drive vehicles only whilst the xDrive models are all-wheel drive. One good thing about the X1 is that it is still considered as a small car and believe me when i say this it handles like one. It is swift and nimble, and with wide range of engine choices available for one to choose from, i assure you that you will not be disappointed.
Despite being a SAV the new BMW X1 is not scared of tackling light off-road tasks, it can easily ride through dirt and snow without getting stuck thanks to the powerful engines that the car is equipped with.
